Festivals in Downtown Red Deer
The Biggest Christmas Tree Festival & Parade is a free, family oriented Christmas themed festival to kick-off the Festival of Trees and Christmas season in downtown Red Deer. Red Deer’s Biggest Tree Festival will be taking over downtown on November 22, 2011. The 2011 Festival will be a night to kick off the holiday season with events including the lighting of Red Deer's Biggest Christmas Tree and the lights in City Hall Park. Other activities include live entertainment, children’s activities and the Christmas Parade.

CentreFest 2011

CentreFest, Red Deer's International Street Performer Festival, is Central Alberta's largest, most affordable, most accessible festival, with over 25 000 attendees in 2010.
CentreFest 2011 will be the ninth festival, and we anticipate the biggest and best one to date. The dates of July 29-31 will see downtown Red Deer explode with wild, exotic, and quite simply unbelievable acts of wonder and amazement, as contortionists, jugglers, magicians, and other forms of street performer join us for CentreFest!

2011 celebrates the 5th year of the Central Alberta Children’s Festival. This Festival continually strives to provide new and unique opportunities for the Children of Central Alberta to learn, play and be active. Loc
al and national talent have entertained at the festival showing a wide array of different skills, from singing to drumming – even break dancing!
Last year, over 7,500 people took in the activities and entertainment in Downtown Red Deer over two days and this year organizers are expecting more than 8,000 people to attend. The festival involved groups from 25 schools all over Central Alberta as well as Red Deer and is proudly promoted through Family Services of Central Alberta’s service sites and other medias to a market of 300,000 people.
The Red Deer Artwalk Festival is Central Alberta’s largest celebration of the Arts, with displays and interactive market from Central Alberta’s best artists. The Red Deer Artwalk Festival is an annual community visual artist festival that has been showcasing our local and regional acts since 1989. In 2008 the festival expanded from a one day event to a week long celebration that includes artists’ demonstrations, a gallery tour, a film night and a full festival day in a downtown park. “Put Yourself in the Picture” and come join the fun.
Earthdance

On Saturday, September 24 at 5:00 PM, when Earthdance Red Deer will join with folks in Zurich, Switzerland (1:00 AM), Brisbane, Australia (9:00 AM), Santiago, Chile (7:00 PM) and dozens of other communities around the world in a simultaneous non-denominational prayer for peace.
2011 marks the 14th annual Earthdance festival world wide, and Red Deer has participated since 2005. This global music and dance festival is a celebration of peace, social justice and environmental consciousness, and raises funds in each community for a local charity. Red Deer’s chosen organization this year is Art from the Streets.
