The event, which is hosted by the Red Deer & District Twin and Triplet Club, will feature a light breakfast, fashion show, prize draws and guest speaker with a portion of the proceeds going to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Special Care Nursery and Royal Alexander NICU. The Red Deer and District Twin and Triplet Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families blessed with twins, triplets or more. The Central Music Festival Society is holding a talent contest for local musicians. The winners will earn a paid, half hour Mainstage set at the fourth annual Central Music Festival that takes place August 13 & 14 this year. All finalists and semi-finalists will receive VIP Weekend Passes to the 2010 Central Music Festival. An independent panel of experienced music jurors will judge all submissions. Six acts will be selected for each of the live semi-finals to be held at The Hub in downtown Red Deer on May 6th (acoustic) and May 7th (electric/ band). Three finalists in each category will compete for the grand prize on May 15 at The Elks Lodge. Guidelines We are looking for original material that can be performed live on stage by Central Albertans. Submissions will be judged on originality, content, and performance quality. For this contest, Central Alberta is defined as the geographical area extending from the BC to SK borders, bounded on the north, including the city of Wetaskiwin, and on the south, including the town of Drumheller. Performances can be in any configuration from solo to ensembles with no more than 6 members. The contest is open to all genres of music, and all ages of performers. Anyone entering under the age of 18 must have parental consent. Submissions will be accepted in the following format only - a compact disc containing a minimum of 2 performances. All applicants must include their name, address, phone number, and email address with their musical submission. A non-refundable application fee of $10.00 (cash or cheque) must accompany all submissions. Please note that Central Music Festival Society will not return any material submitted for this contest. The City of Red Deer is offering a series of lectures beginning on May 4th, at the Red Deer Public Library. The series of four events begins with “For the Love of Trees” by Urban Forester Elaine Johnson on Arbour day, May 4. The series continues with three events over Environment week, with landscape designer Doug Evans’ “Healthy Yards" on May 31, waste management technical specialist Mary Curtis’ “Composting 101" on June 1, "Clean Air Day" with Kevin Warren, and Elaine Johnson’s second lecture of the series, “Pruning Your Trees and Shrubs” on June 4.
All lectures are from 12:05 to 12:50, and are free.
Red Deer's most innovative evening of entertainment is back again, for another installment of its signature Las Vegas-style variety show. Hosted by Chris Cook and the Cabarettes, and featuring live music by Slim and the Criminals, this installment promises to once again bring a level of entertainment unparalleled in the Red Deer region.

The Central AB Walk for ALS presents the movie "Tuesdays with Morrie" starring Jack Lemmon. The movie was produced from the best selling book by Mitch Albom by Oprah Winfrey's Production Company, Harpo Productions. The book was on the New York Times bestseller list for two years. Its messages and themes are inspirational. The movie is not recommended for children. Donations will be accepted at the door. Bring your loonies, penny collections or chequebook; any donation will be gratefully accepted. There will be a short ALS presentation prior to to the movie and representatives from the ALS Society of Alberta will be on hand to answer questions. Refreshments will be served. There will be raffle tickets available and silent auction items.

The Wellbriety Movement is a division of White Bison Inc., a Native American non-profit organization. Since 1988, White Bison has been developing and delivering culturally based healing programs for individuals, families and communities. The Red Deer Native Friendship Centre and The Safe Harbour Society have facilitators trained in the Wellbriety Medicine Wheel & 12 Step Programs. We are honoured to be offering Red Road Talking Circles at each of our Centres. The Red Deer Native Friendship Centre will be hosting an Information Session on the Wellbriety Movement on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 1:30 p.m.
