ALTA Boutique

ALTA is a unisex clothing boutique, located in the heart of the downtown at 4930A Ross Street. ALTA carries fashion forward brands such as Nudie Jeans, Insight, RVCA, and Toms Shoes, just to name a few. Noel Wyman, owner and operator of ALTA Boutique is constantly on the lookout for new brands.
A native Red Deerian, Noel has a degree in Business Management that he received through Athabasca University, with time spent at Red Deer College. Upon completion of his degree, Noel spent some time analysing his options, and he decided that staying in Red Deer was a top priority. So, after a great deal of thought and planning, Noel decided to open ALTA, and the reception of the community has been positive.
It has been five months since ALTA Boutique has opened its doors and Noel is happy with the recognition that his shop has been getting. He has taken an interesting approach in marketing his shop, avoiding radio and newspaper, while relying heavily upon social media and word of mouth. He started a button campaign that simply says “Hi! I’m From Red Deer ALTA” which has resulted in a strong following with younger crowds. I’ve actually had kids come in just to ask me for a button,” explains Noel.
When looking around ALTA, I couldn’t help but find myself marvelling at how chic and modern the product is. ALTA has a vibe that makes you feel like you are checking out the shops of a larger city. The shop itself is bright and cheerful, and creates a welcoming environment for everyone.
“I wanted to set up ALTA in the downtown,” explains Noel. “I want to be a part of a community, a place where people come and discover something different while feeling comfortable and inspired. A downtown should be the centre of a community, and I want our downtown to become a place where people don’t just come to work, but a place where people come to shop and hang out”. ALTA Boutique is one of many shops adds to the unique energy of the downtown.
Noel is trying to ensure that he is open when it is most convenient for his shoppers. Rather than opening from 9 am to 4pm everyday, Noel is open from Monday through Wednesday, 11 am to 6:30 pm, from 11 am to 7 pm on Thursday, and ALTA is kept open late on Fridays, until 8 pm. Noel opens his doors from 12 pm to 5 pm on Saturdays. The only day Noel takes off is Sunday.
