In December 2005, Aly Seymour opened her pet health food store, Tail Blazers. “I have always been interested in animals. I raise sheep and I have many other animals at home. So it fit that I would open a pet health food store,” says Aly. Tail Blazers is located on 53rd Street in downtown Red Deer and is home to a large selection of raw pet food. Tail Blazers also carries a wide range of pet food including dry and canned as well as raw and fresh foods. In addition, Aly wants her customers to be educated on what they feed their pets so she carries books on natural pet health, nutritional supplements, pet shampoo, toys, and treats to name a few. All of the products in Tail Blazers are natural, safe, and delicious!
Aly and her staff, Karmon and Kayla, have considerable knowledge on pet food and how to feed pets appropriately. With this knowledge, customer service is the cornerstone of Tail Blazers. These ladies can answer any question and query that customers may have. As well, their knowledge allows them to provide an educational aspect for an enriched customer experience.
Aly’s customers come from everywhere. Many of her customers are vegetarian and they tend to be more aware of nutritionally appropriate food. Also, the Medicine River Wildlife Center buys high protein foods for their rescue animals. Catering to the needs of her customers, Aly brings in products that are natural and safe.
Aly likes her downtown location. “Downtown is the heart of the city and I would like to see [Red Deer’s] grow. I think that my store is a destination store. People call and specifically ask where I am located. Also, I would love to open another store at some point,” says Aly.
