Red Deer Election Updates

With nominations closing at noon yesterday, we have discovered who our final list of candidates is for the upcoming Red Deer civic elections.  With a wide variety of beliefs, experiences and platforms, the decision for Red Deerians seems to be a difficult one. 


The Candidates for Mayor are Hilary Penko, and incumbent Morris Flewwelling.

City Council candidates include incumbents Cindy Jeffries, Gail Parks, Frank Wong, Buck Buchanan, Lynne Mulder and Tara Veer, newcomers Diane Wyntjes, Paul Harris, Calvin Yzerman, Chris Stephan, Jim Watters, Clarence Torgerson, Terry Lee Ropchan, Jason Chilibeck, and familiar faces Jeffery Dawson, who has served on council in the past, and Matt Chapin, who ran for the office of mayor in our last election.

Red Deer Public Shool Board Trustee Nominees are Matt Chapin, Bill Christie, Kalaina Johnston, Lisa Johnston, Lianne Kruger, Lawrence Lee, Dick Lemke, Dianne, Macauley, Bev Manning, Cathy Peacocke and Bill Steubing. 

David Bouchard, Elaine Halter, Adriana LaGrange, Christine Moore, Guy Pelletier, Duane Rolheiser and Anne Marie Watson are the nominees for Red Deer Catholic Regional School Board.

October 6, 2010: City Of Red Deer Election Information Session (Election Forum)

* 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
* the Hub Red Deer 4936 Ross Street
* Hosted by CARS (Cougars for Self Advocacy) and the Hub on Ross

October 7, 2010: Municipal Election Forum hosted by Red Deer Chamber of Commerce

* 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
* Red Deer Lodge

October 14, 2010: Michener Services POWER Council Forum

* 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
* Roland Michener Recreation Centre (theatre)
