Red Hat Awards Recognize Downtown Businesses

The dedication to the tourism and service industry was recognized recently at the Red Deer Lodge, with Tourism Red Deer's Red Hat Awards being handed out. The downtown was very well represented with a number of nominees and winners.
A huge congratulations to all nominees, and a special congratulations to our downtown winners. Karen Gato of the Red Deer Lodge was awarded "Best Back of House Personnel - Accomodations". A tie between downtown employees Barry Taylor of Safeway Port O' Call and Tara Spooner of The Bra Lounge was a surprise in the Best Clerk Representative category. The Red Deer Lodge became a double winner as Steve Blackwell was awarded the hat for Best Manager. And the big winner of the evening, was The Red Deer Market, which was awarded Tourism Organization of the Year. It is a great honour for each of these individuals to be awarded for their service in their respective industry, congratulations to all.
