A newly renovated downtown development is accepting residential applications and working towards completion of a number of commercial opportunities on the main floor.  Located at 5017 49 Street, the River Valley Apartments is an affordable, 71-unit residential development with 13500 square feet of commercial opportunity on the main floor.

"The River Valley has been fully renovated, both inside and out, and is an excellent option for people looking for an affordable living option in our downtown," said Stan Shalk, developer of River Valley Apartments. "An added plus is its proximity to grocery stores, the transit terminal and RDC's new business college."

River Valley Apartments offers affordably downtown living for individuals, couples or families with incomes around or under $34 000 a year.  All suites feature private bathrooms, kitchens equipped with refrigerators and stoves, newly tiled and carpeted floors and bright windows for exposure to natural sunlight.  Many units have balconies and there are thirteen fully accessible suites in the building.  Laundry facilities are located on-site.

The building is a part of The City of Red Deer's crime-free multi-housing pilot project.  All tenants will be required to sign, as part of the lease, an agreement that states they will live a crime-free lifestyle while a tenant of the River Valley Apartments.

"With RDC and CAT Theatre coming to the downtown, this development will provide important residential and commercial opportunities to those working, wanting to line or invest in the downtown," said Shalk.
