Construction to complete the remaining work on the park including replacing temporary cement work with the appropriate pavers, crosswalk work and work along the south side of Ross Street will start on Monday.
Construction will be set up on the west side of Veterans' Park in order to make a safe work area for pedestrians. There will be times that traffic will be impacted. We will try to communicate those times with as much advance notice as possible.
The intent will be to maintain one lane of open traffic along Ross Street at all times through this construction and the Gaetz Avenue construction. The current handicapped parking stalls west of Veterans' Park will be used for construction setup, but will be re-signed in alternate locations.
City street sweepers will be out in force this Sunday, May 1.
This is a great opportunity to sweep the sidewalk in front of your business out onto the street so that the street-sweeper can remove the sand and dirt.
And a gentle reminder not to put mud and sand in the public waste receptacles.
"No Parking" signs will be set out on the streets a minimum of 12 hours before work begins. Residents need to watch for these signs in their areas. Vehicles left parked on signed streets will be ticketed and towed.

Every spring, the City of Red Deer undertakes a large scale street sweeping to remove the sanding materials and debris left on our roadways throughout the winter. The main roadways are swept first, followed by residential. The City is planning on beginning street sweeping the busiest downtown streets, Ross Street and Gaetz Avenue, on Sunday April 17, beginning at 7 am.
