“We are working on an Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) for the Railyards, which envisions the district as a vibrant mixed-use area with an emphasis on high-density urban living, and we need a name,” said Angus Schaffenburg, Planning Manager.

Starting Thursday, June 2, residents can participate by emailing their name idea for the district to planning@reddeer.ca, along with their contact information. The City will be collecting name ideas until the fall, and then three name submissions will be selected by City Council for the public to vote on.

Gaetz Avenue Revitalization Update
Tuesday, May 3rd 2011

The City is getting ready to start construction on one of the most exciting projects in the downtown – Gaetz Avenue Revitalization. The investment in streetscaping, walkability and aesthetics along Gaetz is going to create a new identity for this area of downtown and The City is committed to working with you during construction to make this project a success.

There are many phases to this construction project and they all depend on things we sometimes can’t control such as weather and unknown construction impacts. Because of these unknowns and the many challenges that often come with big construction projects, The City is holding a launch meeting for businesses and residents of the area to meet with City staff and contractors. This meeting will set the stage for how we are proceeding with construction and what you can expect. It also provides one of many opportunities for you to connect with us and ask questions related to construction. This meeting will be held on May 5 at 5 p.m. at the Scott Block.

This is only the first of many opportunities you will have to speak with City staff and contractors as we move forward with this exciting project. For more information on this project check out www.reddeer.ca/gaetzrevitalization.
