Great Strides Celebrates Diamond Anniversary with Free Shoes for a Year

Posted: Tuesday, April 24th 2012

Bev Krausher from Great Strides started in hockey before she elegantly walked into the land of gorgeous footwear. Rebels hockey. She was part of the management group responsible for bringing our beloved WHL team to Red Deer. Wanting a change, she knew she was going into business, though she didn’t know what that would look like. It took nine months from conception of the small business idea to birth Great Strides, a Red Deer institution on Little Gaetz. A savvy businesswoman, she just saw a need and was able to meet it. “It would be the same as if Safeway was out of bananas,” she remarked casually. Many women in the area and beyond have gone bananas over her shoes, purses, and accessories in the ten year life-span of her baby.

Great Strides is a high end women’s shoe store on Little Gaetz. It carries such desirable labels as Miz Mooz, Franco Sarto, Sam Edelman, Naot, Josef Seibel. They also cater to the hard to fit foot, carrying some lines sized by both length and width. Purses and accessories are a boutique approach, with only one of each style available to prevent repetition. You buy quality, but something you cannot find elsewhere.

The celebration: From April 26-28, The Tenth Anniversary Celebration in Great Strides will include in-store specials, cake, and diamond décor to compliment the diamond anniversary. It will be anything but understated, as she quotes Mae West: “Too much of a good thing is wonderful.” And the crowning jewel? A giveaway already getting women sparkling: free shoes for an entire year!

When asked what she will do for herself for to commemorate her success, Bev Krausher, ever the businesswoman has a pragmatic answer. She has already purchased another store in Lethbridge. Like fine shoes, she’s got a matching pair! Congratulations to Bev and the entire staff of Great Strides.
